Check out the New Generation of Microsoft Certifications! There are several credentials which are focused on SQL server:

• Technology Series: MCTS: SQL Server 2005
• Technology Series: MCTS: SQL Server 2008
• Professional Series: MCITP: Database Developer
• Professional Series: MCITP: Database Administrator
• Master Series: Master: SQL Server 2008

The old-style SQL 2000 certifications will not expire, so if you are currently on the SQL 2000 MCDBA track you can continue as planned. Microsoft has promised an upgrade option toward the new Microsoft SQL Server 2005 / 2008 credentials.
